Building a great product isn’t just about adding features — it’s about knowing when to remove them.
Last week marked an important shift in how we think about PromptIn. After closely analyzing how our extension performs in real-world usage, we made a bold decision: simplify aggressively and remove what doesn’t work reliably.
The Problem: When Complexity Gets in the Way
Like many growing tools, PromptIn evolved quickly. We introduced features, refined workflows, and focused heavily on specific parameters we believed were important.
But over time, a pattern became clear:
We were solving the right problems — but often at the wrong level of complexity.
Some features looked great in theory but introduced friction in practice. Others worked inconsistently across different environments. And a few simply didn’t meet the reliability standards we expect from a daily-use productivity tool.
The Big Decision: Removing the "Save Prompt" Button
One of the most noticeable changes?
👉 We completely removed the "Save Prompt" button.
This wasn’t an easy call. It was a core part of how users interacted with PromptIn. But in reality, it created more issues than value:
- Inconsistent behavior across different AI platforms
- UI clutter that disrupted the user experience
- Technical overhead that affected performance
Instead of trying to patch and maintain a flawed interaction, we chose a cleaner path: remove it and rebuild the experience around simplicity and reliability.
A Cleaner, More Reliable Interface
With the removal of the feature, we took the opportunity to refine the entire interface.
The result is a system that feels:
- More stable – fewer edge cases and unexpected bugs
- Faster – reduced overhead and cleaner interactions
- More intuitive – less visual noise, clearer actions
This wasn’t just a UI tweak — it was a foundational improvement.
Why This Matters for You
If you use AI tools daily, you know how important flow is. Even small interruptions can break your focus and slow you down.
Our goal with PromptIn is simple:
> Your tools should stay out of your way and just work.
By removing unreliable features and focusing on what truly works, we’re building a system you can trust — every single time you use it.
The Bigger Lesson: Subtraction > Addition
There’s a common misconception in product development that more features = more value.
In reality, the opposite is often true.
The best tools:
- Do fewer things
- But do them exceptionally well
This update reflects a broader philosophy we’re embracing:
clarity, performance, and reliability over feature overload.
What’s Next?
This change gives us a much stronger foundation to build on.
Moving forward, you can expect:
- More stable workflows
- Thoughtfully designed features
- Continuous improvements based on real usage
We’re not just building features — we’re refining an experience.
